We have made the difficult decision to postpone our production of Matilda Jr. We are hoping to perform it in the Spring of 2021. Stay tuned for more updates.

Auditions for Matilda Jr. will beheld Tuesday, August 11 and Thursday, August 13 from 5-9 PM; with callbacks on Saturday August 15, by invitation. Auditions will be held at the Syracuse Community Center, 1912 West 1900 South in Syracuse. In an effort to limit the wait time, please sign up for an audition time.  Walk-ins will be welcome, but priority will be given to those with a scheduled audition time.

Please be prepared to sing a short excerpt (about 30 seconds) from a Broadway Musical in the style of the show. An accompanist will be provided.  A speaker will also be provided for cell phone backing tracks. In addition to singing for your audition, please recite one of the monologues linked below.  Memorization and accents are highly encouraged! Please bring your completed forms and a headshot, if available.

We will be following all social distancing guidelines. We will be limiting the number of people in the community center. You may be asked to wait in your car until it is your turn. Masks are strongly encouraged.

Matilda Jr. will be directed by Jake Swensen with music direction by Jordan Martineau and choreography by Chatana Krebs.

Participation is open to children ages 7-17. There is a $50 participation fee. The cast size will be limited to ensure social distancing requirements can be met.

There will be 4 performances November 19-21. 

We are excited to announce that our fall musical is Matilda Jr! We are currently accepting letters of interest for our production team for the following positions: Producer, Director, Assistant Director, Music Director and Choreographer. Please submit an email to info@syracuseutaharts.org with your contact info, desired position, experience and conflicts from July-November. The deadline to submit will be Tuesday, July 7. Team members will be notified before the first production team meeting which will be held on Tuesday, July 14.

We will be holding audition workshops July 31 and August 1 to help your child prepare. The cost is $10 per person. Register at https://
syracuseut.gov/221/Parks-Recreation/ or in person at the community center beginning July 1. You do not have to attend a workshop to audition.

Auditions for Matilda Jr are Tuesday, August 4 and Thursday, August 6 from 5-9 PM; and Saturday August 8 from 8:30-noon with callbacks, as needed, from 1-5 PM. Auditions are open to youth between the ages of 7-17. Sign up information will be available soon.

Performances will be held November 19-21 in the Syracuse Arts Academy Jr High Auditorium.
